Roam from the coast of Belize through the Mayan mountains and observed the magnificent flora along the highways of Belize. From Placencia the journey takes approximately three hours fifteen minutes tops. But we can assure you that traveling along with a knowledgeable guide the time will seem like you just took a short drive. Xunantunich, located in the Cayo village of Succotz, means stone lady in the Yucatec Mayan language. Upon arriving there the guest must alight the vehicle to go across on a hand crank ferry to the other side of the Mopan River to get to the parking lot about a mile away. After arriving there you will get your entrance tickets and your guide will brief you in something to take along and what to do or not to. From the parking lot to the main plaza area you will take a little stroll to the main plaza area while our guide explains and gives you some historical facts of the site and the Mayas.
The tour on site will take between one hour and a half to two hours roughly . From there you will travel across the river and go to Benny`s kitchen where you can delight yourself to some great Belizean and Mayan influenced food.
After your lunch then you will take a drive back on the George price highway and to the hummingbird highway to take a refreshing swim at St. Herman’s inland blue hold and enjoy the pristine turquoise water it offers, until you are ready to hit the road and make some interesting stop on the hummingbird highway.
Tour leaves Placencia at 7:00 a.m. and you should be back at 5 in Placencia.
Things to know: wear light colors and light clothes .bring along sunscreen and wear nice comfortable shoes. Dont forget charge your camera overnight.
